Upcoming 2026 amendments: The Privacy Act reforms currently before Parliament introduce specific requirements around automated decision-making. From December 2026, businesses using AI to make decisions that significantly affect individuals will need to provide transparency about those decisions and offer a pathway for human review.

Australian Consumer Law: If you use AI to generate marketing claims, product descriptions, or advice, the usual consumer protection rules apply. AI-generated content that is misleading or deceptive exposes you to the same liability as if a human wrote it.
